This week is focused on CHANGE. My daughter, who is the oldest in my family, is getting ready to go to college in almost a week. I have been reflective the past couple of weeks amazed at how fast time has gone by. I am so proud of the strong young woman she has become and I am so happy for her as she prepares to go to school. I also think of how it seems like it was not THAT long ago that I was her age and went to school. One year later, I met my husband to be and we were married withing 5 years.

In the meantime, I am a special education teacher and have changed the grade level that I teach. I have taught third through fifth graders for the last 12 years and now I will be teaching seventh. This is something I have wanted to do and I am super excited for the school year ahead. I have been busy setting up my classroom and preparing for my students.

Now typically, this type of change in my home life and professional life, even though it is GOOD change, would have brought about STRESS eating. I am the type of person who can overthink things and worry. I have been changing my MINDSET as I have worked super hard to make positive choices in my life and lose 50 pounds. I am not eating pizza or cookies like I may have in the past. Instead I am focusing on eating healthy and exercising.

The next couple weeks will be hectic for me and my family. It will be bittersweet to see my daughter go off to college and it will be exciting to teach at a new school. I am going to stay focused on the positive and lead a healthy lifestyle. In fact, I will be coaching others as they do the same.
